Grief Resources

Grief Resources

Individual counseling, local grief support groups, and online websites may help in working through your grief.

GriefShare is a nationwide network of groups of people who meet weekly to share and support each other during the grief recovery process. Visit www.griefshare.org to find a support group near you.

Online resources include discussion forums, educational tools, and a community for people who are dealing with grief. You may find one or more of the following websites to be helpful:

  • Compassionate Friends

The words of TCF’s Founder, Simon Stephens, resonate with those who have come to The Compassionate Friends hoping to find a purpose in a life that suddenly seems so empty. Whether your family has had a child die (at any age, from any cause) or you are trying to help those who have gone through this life altering experience, The Compassionate Friends exists to provide friendship, understanding, and hope to those going through the natural grieving process.

  • UNC Medical Center

Grief is the expected, natural, and often unwelcome experience that follows a loss. Through the Department of Pastoral Care, Bereavement Services offers support to families or individuals who have experienced a loss through one-on-one communication, providing resources, and connecting to community resources for long-term support.
