Nancy Joan Hanna was born April 13, 1936, daughter of Ernest and Willa Scott of Altoona KS. Nancy was a life long Wilson County resident. She married the love of her life David M. Hanna Jr. on October 23, 1955. In the years that followed, they had four children, three sons, and one daughter, ten grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Over the years Nancy and David instilled strong values in their children, among these were; a hard work ethic and generosity. Nancy held a variety of jobs, some remember her from First National Bank of Neodesha, many others from her days managing the Peter Pan restaurant, still others remember her smiling and welcoming ways at G & W Foods.

Nancy also loved to travel, shop, cook and play BINGO with her friends. Nancy was famous among her friends and family for her homemade chicken and noodles and scrumptious cherry pies. Nancy was particularly proud of her years of service as a Democratic chairperson and campaign manager for Gov. Robert Docking.

Nancy is preceded in death by her darling daughter, Teresa Anne and her husband of fifty years, David. Survivors include, sons, Greg and Lucy Hanna of Topeka, KS., Stephen Hanna of Chanute, KS., Todd and Donna Hanna of Neodesha, KS., brother, Norman and Treva Scott of Neodesha, KS., sisters, Susan Bischoff of Tulsa, OK., Nettie and Charlie Varnell of Penscola, FL., ten grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the family greeting friends from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Please accept my condolences for the passing of your dear loved one. When someone we love dies, the heartache and grief can be great. I hope that you can be comforted knowing that Jehovah God cares for you and sees your pain. (1 Peter 5:7) "He is close to the brokenhearted and He saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18) May you find comfort and relief during this grievous time, as you cherish the precious memories of Nancy.

I worked with Nancy for several years. I haven't seen her for several years but she was a great lady. I loved working with her and when I changed jobs I still loved talking to her until she moved from Neodesha. She will be missed. She was a fixture at G&W. I am so sorry for her family's loss.
