Arthur Mishler

December 21, 1942 — August 1, 2017

Arthur Owen Mishler, 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones on Tuesday, August 1st. Services will be held at the Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha on Saturday, August 5th at 11:00am, with burial following at Neodesha Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, August 4th at Loran Fawcett Chapel. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Arthur Owen Mishler was born on December 21, 1942 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Henry Lewis Mishler and Mabel Mae (Allen) Mishler. Art attended and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1960. During his time in school Art served as vice president and president of the local FFA Chapter. After graduation Art married the love of his life Janice in 1963. While living in Cherryvale, Art and Janice welcomed two boys, Robin and Brian. In 1973, Art and family moved to Neodesha. Then shortly after that Art and Janice welcomed their third son, Scott. When Art began working at MEC in 1969, he began his career as a beginning welder. After years of hard work and dedication, Art was promoted to shop supervisor. In 2006, Art retired from MEC after 32 years. Art will be remembered by his coworkers and a man who lead by example. Most people that worked with Art will remember him walking around the plant shop collecting soda can tabs so that he could send to the Ronald McDonald House. During Art's spare time he enjoyed a variety of hobbies, such as; gardening, duck hunting and fishing. One passion that consumed a great deal of Art and Janice's time was his incredible skill of wood working. There were many of days and weekends spent traveling around attending local festivals and art and crafts shows displaying his "Works of Art".
Survivors include his wife Janice, of Neodesha, sons, Robin Mishler, and wife Susan of Chanute, Brian Mishler, and wife Tomi of Chanute, Scott Mishler, and wife Deania of Desoto, brothers, Carl Mishler, of Independence, Harry Mishler, of Wichita, Dale Mishler, of Independence, sisters, Dorthy Cole, of Independence, Ruth Mishler, of Coffeyville, Helen Fleenor, of Winfield, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lewis Mishler and Mabel Mae (Barker) Mishler, brothers, Frank Mishler, Francis Mishler, Harold Mishler, sisters, Shirley Barnes, Thelma Richardson, Margaret Moore, Betty Pouge, and grandchild, Patrick Mishler. The family has suggested memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. Any contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
