Ava R. Beeman Ava Rhoda Beeman of Neodesha, Kansas, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha. She was 102. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the First Church of God under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Leslie Griffith will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. to register. The daughter of Lawrence Asca and Helen Elizabeth Cottle Surmon she was born January 4, 1904, in Cedar County, MO. In 1908, she moved to Altoona, Kansas, with her family. She attended Fairview and Omega Country Schools in Wilson County. On June 5, 1923, she was united in marriage to Ray C. Beeman in Independence, KS. The couple resided in Fredonia, Neodesha and Thayer, KS, before returning to Neodesha to live. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1979. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Beeman was a member of the First Church of God in Neodesha, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sunflower Club, both of Thayer, and was a 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Beeman is survived by one son, Ray L. Beeman of Joplin, MO; one daughter, Dorothy E. Singhurst of Neodesha; one sister, Hazel Moore of Neodesha; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Gertie, Ruby, Goldie, and Lucille; and one grandchild, Michael Beeman.
