Bertha ReVae Mundt, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2021 at Morningstar Care Home in Neodesha, Kansas. ReVae was preceded in death by her parents, Earle and Ferne Brownlee, her husband, Al Mundt, one sister, Norma Jeanne Haury and nephew, Richard Haury.
ReVae was born on June 30, 1934 in rural Havana, Kansas. She grew up on a farm near Sunnyside, in the rural Havana area. She graduated from Wayside High School in 1951. On December 23, 1951, ReVae married Gene Kilgore and they were married for 22 years.
ReVae worked full time to help support her family while also raising three children. Her work included bookkeeping, purchasing and clerical work in both Municipal and private industries, while living in Missoula, MT, Independence, KS, and Pittsburg, KS. She eventually moved to Minneapolis, MN where she met Al Mundt.
On May 30, 1980, ReVae and Al were united in marriage. They lived in Minneapolis until they both retired and moved to their lake home near Nevis, Minnesota. They loved their years at Crow-wing lakes and the many friendships they made while there. The lake was a favorite place where many wonderful memories were made with her children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed traveling during their retirement years.
Al and ReVae moved to Nixa, Missouri in 2003. Al passed away in 2008. ReVae moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 2011 to be near her son, Tom, and his family. She lived independently for eight years until she was almost 85 years old. She moved to Morningstar Care Home in Neodesha, Kansas in 2019 to be near her daughter, Lisa, and her family.
ReVae was loved by her 3 children: Lynn (Terry) Kilgore of Independence, KS, Tom (Marilyn) Kilgore of Manhattan, KS, and Lisa (John) Newland of Neodesha, KS and one step-son Brian (Mary) Mundt of Minneapolis, MN; 8 grandchildren: Richard Haemmerle, Cynthia Kilgore, Nellie Kilgore, Jennifer Kilgore, Brandy Alt, Matthew Kilgore, Jesse Newland, Ashley Osburn and Kyle Mundt; 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, 11am at the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, KS with Pastor Gary Larson officiating. Inurnment will be at Havana Cemetery following a family gathering. Memorials may be made in ReVae’s honor to Alzheimer’s Association.
