Betty N. Mills Betty Nell Mills of Lenexa, Kansas, formerly of Neodesha and Independence, died Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. She was 81. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. Pastor Jim Logan of the Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call to view and register at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Thursday. The daughter of Albert Roy and Millie Ruth Sanders Harvey, she was born August 25, 1926, in Neodesha, KS. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1944. On January 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Dr. Carlyle R. Mills in Bentonville, AR. The couple lived in Neodesha where Dr. Mills was engaged in the practice of dentistry and Mrs. Mills was a homemaker. He preceded her in death June 2, 1988. Mrs. Mills lived in Overland Park, KS, from 1969 until 1989, when she moved to Independence, KS. She moved to Lenexa, KS, in 2005 to reside in Delmar Gardens. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and TOPS. Survivors include two sons, Todd Mills and his wife Susan of Overland Park, KS, and Scott Mills and his wife Kelly of Olathe, KS; two sisters, Mary Kiddoo of Independence, KS, and Merideth Hanes of Grove, OK; four grandchildren, Amber Ann, Ashlee Kristine, Sara Kaitlyn and Christine Nicole; and one great-grandson, Noah Matthew. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Kirk; four brothers, John, Fred, Frank, and Estel; and one sister, Dorothy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
