Brent Martin

Brent Martin Marshall Brent Martin of Neodesha, KS, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at his home. He was 58. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at the First Christian Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call to register from 18 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 67 p.m. The son of Donald and Dorothy McCrabb Martin, he was born January 30, 1952, in Neodesha, KS. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1970 and received an Associate of Science degree from Independence Community College in 1972. On March 31, 1973, he was united in marriage to Alaura Arnold in Caney, KS. She survives at the home. Brent was a carpenter and the coowner and operator of Martin and Millis Construction for 27 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Neodesha and loved to fish, garden, collect arrowheads and play tennis. He had also been involved with the Neodesha Community Garden, the Neodesha Tree Board and Quail Unlimited. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melanie Martin of Neodesha and Lindsey Martin of Pittsburg, KS two sisters, Nancy Holtzman of Thayer, KS, and Kellie Strickholm of Dakota Dunes, SD. He is preceded in death by his parents his stepmother, Betty DePuy Martin and a stepbrother, Tommy McGuire. Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice Care of Kansas or the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library and may be left at the funeral home.
