Charles "Charlie" William Goff III, 80, of Altoona, Kansas died surrounded by his loving family after a brave fight with cancer at 9:08 a.m. on March 26, 2018. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 30th at the Christian Church in Altoona, Kansas. Burial will follow at Harrison Cemetery in rural Thayer, Kansas. A Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29th at Loran Fawcett Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Charles was born in Neodesha, Kansas on April 25, 1937 to Charles W. and Evelyn (Laws) Goff. He attended school in rural Neodesha and Florida before graduating high school in Wichita.
Charles married the love of his life- Dorothy "Dot" Darleene Brown- on December 12, 1960. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1994. They raised two daughters, Julie Ann and Vicki Jo. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and working for many years at WG fertilizer in Thayer. He later worked at Tri-Glass and MFG Construction Products before retiring and tending to his cattle. Charles was known for working on his hot rods, coon hunting, woodworking, and the deep love he had for his children and grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his two daughters Julie (Danny) Mayeske of Fredonia and Vicki (Kelly) Jarboe of Walnut; brother Joe (Dixie) Goff of Wichita; and five grandchildren: Canese Jarboe, Krista Jarboe, Cody Jarboe, Charell Mayeske, and Layne Mayeske.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Barbara Ann and Janna Sue, and two nephews.
