CHARLES E. CHUCK MAYHOOD Charles E. Chuck Mayhood, age 70, of Neodesha, Kansas died Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, Kansas. Chuck was born March 16, 1932 in Columbus, Kansas to Charley and Vivian Wilson Mayhood. He grew up in the Scammon, Columbus area before moving to Neodesha, Kansas and graduating from the Neodesha High School in 1950. On September 2, 1951 Chuck married Shirley Herron in Asheville, North Carolina. In 1952 Chuck entered the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War and a tour in Guam as a Staff Sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1953. In 1959 they moved back to Neodesha, Kansas. Chuck was the owner of Little Bear Oil from 1975 till 1992. He was then owner and CEO of Little Bear Transportation for about 10 years. Chuck attended the Nazarene Church and was past member of the Masons, Metro Club, Lions and Rotary Club and the Twin River Trails. Chuck was a life member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife Shirley of the Home, four sons, Charles Mayhood of Rockport, Texas; Randy Mayhood of Troy, Missouri, Gary Mayhood of Neodesha, Kansas and Rick Mayhood of Neodesha, Kansas; two brothers Raymond Mayhood of Highlandville, Missouri and Bill Mayhood of Burbank, California; one step brother James Morris of Neodesha, Kansas; two sisters Janice Paris of San Jose, California; Joan Justice of Rogers, Arkansas; four grandsons and eight granddaughters. He was preceded in death by one daughter Jessica Jo Mayhood, his mother, father, and step father. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002 at the Neodesha Church of the Nazarene with Carl Soliday officiating. Burial will follow in the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home in Neodesha, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Donoramp;s Choice and contributions may be left at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family via www.funeralchoice.com.
