Dale Coy Vernon Dale Coy of Neodesha, KS, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Independence, KS. He was 64. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Christ Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Rev. Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Harrisonville Cemetery in rural Independence, KS, at 2:30 p.m. Friends may call Tuesday, May 11, 2010, from 9 a.m.8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 68 p.m. He was born on May 25, 1945, in Coffeyville, KS, to Vernie Frances and Viola Mae Ward Coy. He was raised in Coffeyville where he received his education. He later studied welding at the Coffeyville VoTech School. Dale drove the 4 Hobo at numerous races in the area. He once received the Driver of the Week Award from the Caney Valley Speedway as well as numerous other trophies. He was united in marriage to Peggy L. Moody on March 19, 1976, in Miami, OK. She survives at the home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Carol Sue Coy of Coffeyville, KS, Charlotte Ann Sullivan of South Coffeyville, OK, Wendy Dale Easter of Independence, KS, Cynthia Dawn Harvey of Neodesha, KS, and Jessica Tarlton of Fredonia, KS one son, Michael Dean Harvey of Cherryvale, KS five sisters, Dean Larkin of Boise, Idaho, Cheryl Pomeranke of Joplin, MO, Mary Ann Newby and her husband Jim of Coffeyville, KS, June Vanderlinen of Washington, DC and Anita Kay Thigpen and her husband Guy of Mobile, AL 23 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents one son, Tony Dean Coy and two sisters, Dorothy Kennedy and Sharon Kay Coy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Elk City State Park and may be left at the funeral home.
