Darrel Claibourn

October 27, 1957 — January 21, 2015

Darrel Ray Claibourn, age 57, of Neodesha, Kansas died from his battle with cancer Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his home in Neodesha, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints located at 507 Mulberry in Independence, Kansas.

The family has suggested memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Chapel. Inurnment will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Grandview Cemetery southeast of Neodesha, Kansas.

Darrel was born October 27, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas to Raymond & Vonnie "Stafford" Claibourn. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1977. Darrel married Gerri Hoskins November 20, 1976 in Neodesha, Kansas.

He owned and operated his own oil company D.C. oil and he worked as a maintenance man at Watco in Neodesha until his health failed. Darrel loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his mother Vonnie Claibourn of Neodsha, Kansas; five sons Bryan & wife Frances Claibourn of Ireland, Derek & wife Kim of Houston, Missouri, Tyler & wife Shanina Claibourn, of Neodesha, Kansas, Lance and wife Rachel Claibourn of Emporia, Kansas, Austyn Claibourn of Fort Collins, Colorado; one daughter Ashy Elliott Edens of Perry, Oklahoma; one brother Danny & wife Karen Claibourn, Neodesha, Kansas; one sister Sondra & husband Steve Jenson of Neodesha, Kansas; six grandchildren. He was preceded by his father.
