David L. Green, 70, a resident of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas.
David was born on August 30, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, to Earl Jr. and Joanne (Williams) Green. He grew up in Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1973. During school, David was a member of the Neodesha Chapter of the Future Farmers of America and excelled in welding and small engine classes.
In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and riding his motorcycle. Traveling to Sturgis with friends on his Harley was always a highlight of his summer. In 1987, David married Donella Lauffer in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and became part of a family that included two daughters, Rhonda and Wendy.
After his brother Danny’s passing, David took in Danny’s dog, Boo Boo, and the two became inseparable. Boo Boo quickly became his loyal companion and a constant source of comfort and joy.
Those who knew David will remember his easygoing nature, his love for the outdoors, and the joy he found in time spent with family, friends, and Boo Boo. Whether he was casting a line, cooking for others, or heading down the road on his Harley, David enjoyed life most when it was simple and shared.
Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda (Bryan) Howell and Wendy (Lance) Guiou of Neodesha, Kansas; three grandchildren, Shelby Howell and partner Justin, Andrew Howell and partner Lindsy, and Braelyn Guiou; four great-grandchildren, Benton, Wyatt, River, and Wrenlee; his uncle, Manley Williams of Wichita, Kansas; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved granny, Mildred Williams; his brother, Danny Williams; and his sister, Devina Green.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Church (1001 Elm St, Neodesha, KS) on Saturday, September 12, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of David and the life he shared with those who knew him. A private family burial will be at a later time.
Memorials may be made to A.W.O.L. in Independence.
