DAVID A. MCROBERTS David A. McRoberts, 82, of Thayer, Kansas formerly of Neodesha, passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at his home. David was born December 01 1924 in Wilson County, Kansas to Robert Ross and Nellie Pearl Howard McRoberts. He was raised and educated in Neodesha. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 serving during WWII in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was in the Marine Corps Reserves and was called back to active duty in 1950, serving in Korea until 1951. David married Lorraine Adams on April 29, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas. They made their home in Neodesha where he worked for Standard Refinery, the Brick plant and MEC, where he retired from MEC in 1987. They traveled in their RV from lake to lake and most recently made their home in Thayer. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and a life member of the V.F.W. post 5962, Neodesha, Kansas. David is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Thayer, Kansas; three children, Linda Smith of Neodesha, Clifford McRoberts of Thayer, Kansas and Teresa Fuller of Altoona, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Marvin Keith McRoberts; two brothers, Vernon and Howard; and three sisters, Bertha, Golda and Juanita. Cremation will take place under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha, Kansas with graveside memorial services being held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 03, 2007 at the Cheatham-Koger Cemetery on Jade road with Reverend Dave Cheshier officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps, V.F.W. Posts 5962 and 3018. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders.
