Delbert Red H. Secrest, age 78, of Neodesha, Kansas died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha, Kansas. Red was born June 6, 1924 in Harper County, Oklahoma to Hartie and Velma Fern Fleming Secrest. Red grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Rosston High School in Rosston, Oklahoma in 1942. After graduation Red enlisted into the United States Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Red was a retired Truck Driver. He was a Life member of the VFW Post 5962 in Neodesha, Kansas and a member of the Eagles in Neodesha. On February 28, 1944 Red married Maxine Casey in Buffalo, Kansas and they later
orced in 1975. Survivors include three sons, Terry and wife Vickie Secrest of Neodesha, Kansas; Gary and wife Dorsianne Secrest of Dixon, Missouri, Ronnie Secrest of Joplin, Missouri; one daughter Christine and husband Dennis Porter of Wichita, Kansas; one sister Opal Case of Alva, Oklahoma; 12 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the Neodesha Cemetery with Dave Cheshier officiating under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Military Rites will be presented by VFW Post 5962 of Neodesha, Kansas.
