Donald M. Clegg Donald Milton Clegg of Neodesha, KS, died Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus. He was 92. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at the United Methodist Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Rev. Kris Brinlee will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call to register on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at their residence. The son of Milton and May Vandaveer Clegg, he was born January 17, 1916, in Neodesha, KS. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1935. Mr. Clegg served with the US Army during WWII, serving in Hawaii and the Philippines with the 20th Infantry, 6th Division. He received a Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Neodesha where he worked for five years as a pipeline layer for J.R. Vandaveer. He then was employed for 20 years by the American Oil Company in their transportation department. After Amoco closed their refinery in Neodesha, he worked 10 years as a tank repairer for Berwind before retiring. On September 29, 1951, he was united in marriage to Peggy I. Runk in Neodesha. She survives at the home. He was a member of VFW Post 5962. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Milton of Nixa, MO, and John of Lenexa, KS; two daughters, Lucille McCune of Parsons, KS, and Patricia Dunn of Leavenworth, KS; one brother, J.D. Clegg of Neodesha; one sister, Hazel Stevenin of Thayer, KS; eight grandchildren, Nathan McCune, Tim McCune, Amanda McCune, Tara, Clegg, Tracy Clegg, Jessie Clegg, Chris Dunn and Debbie Dunn; and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Francis and Ruth; and one brother, Joe. Memorial contributions may be made to the Neodesha Alumni Scholarship Fund for the Donald Clegg Scholarship.
