With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donna Louise Bentley, aged 92, of Neodesha, Kansas, who departed this world on March 1, 2026. Born on July 12, 1933, in Neodesha to the loving parents Ray and Frances Vining, Donna lived a life that was rich in love and dedication.
A proud alumna of Benedict High School, her journey extended to Independence Community College, where her spirit of learning blossomed. It was during these formative years that she met the love of her life, Jim Bentley, a love that flourished into a sacred union when they wed on August 31, 1953, upon Jim's return from the Korean Conflict.
Together, they raised three cherished children: Susan (Fred) Reeves, Janet Bentley, and Bruce (Sandra) Bentley. Their legacy lives on through five adoring grandchildren-Scott (Deanna) Reeves, Robert (Krystal) Reeves, Heather Reeves, Bryan Young, and Adam (Samantha) Bentley-and seven great-grandchildren, Ciara Reeves, Ashten Reeves, Toby Pearce, Kaitlyn Pearce, Maycee Korhn, Eugene Bentley, Steven Bentley, great-great-granddaughter, T'Ana Kinnard.
Well known for her seamstress skills, Donna crafted not just garments but also a warm and nurturing home. For 35 remarkable years, she and Jim operated Bentley's Dry Cleaning and Laundromat, a cornerstone of the Neodesha community. Donna was not only an astute businesswoman but also a devoted member of the Neodesha Nazarene Church, serving faithfully as treasurer for many years.
Her passion extended to sewing, crocheting, and reading, pursuits that filled her life with creativity and joy. A mother and wife to the core, she lovingly handmade her children's clothes until they were old enough to create their own, a testament to her tireless dedication and affection.
Donna is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, and her parents, Ray and Frances Vining. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness to her children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held March 5th, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm at the Neodesha Nazarene Church. A funeral service will be held to celebrate her beautiful life on March 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Neodesha Nazarene Church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest, finding eternal peace in burial at 12:00 PM that day.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Neodesha Church of the Nazarene in Donna's memory.
May her spirit soar on the wings of love she so freely gave.
