Dorothy M. Cook, 86 of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away early the Monday morning of June 20, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha. Graveside Funeral Services, under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Neodesha Cemetery with Reverend Dave Cheshier, pastor of the Christ Church, officiating. Friends may call the funeral home on Thursday, June 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to the American Heart Association and can be left in care of the funeral home. Dorothy Marie was born to Delva and Minnie Redington Anderson on December 27, 1924 in Neodesha, KS. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1942. She worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and clerk. Dorothy was a Boy Scout Leader and also a Girl Scout Leader, she was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., and she loved quilting, reading, and craft work. Dorothy married Donald Cook on January 25, 1942 in Newton, KS and he preceded her in death on February 09, 1998. Survivors include, three sons Randy Cook amp wife Jean of Austin, TX, Robert Cook amp wife Colleen of Rockwall, TX, and Rodney Cook amp wife Elva of Neodesha, KS one daughter Donnita Grogan amp husband Kirby of Neodesha, KS 13 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren a sister Joan Hubbard of Neodesha, KS and sisterinlaw Jean Anderson of Manhattan, KS along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Donald Cook, Jr., a grandson Kyle Cook, a greatgrandson Aaron Jones, five brothers and two sisters.
