Dorothy Lee Kensinger, 94, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, October 30, 2017. A service will be held at the Methodist Church in Neodesha, KS on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2:00pm. A visitation is being held at 1:00pm at the Methodist Church on Thursday also.
Dorothy Lee Kensinger was born on May 11, 1923 in Neodesha, KS to Frank and Grace (Small) Jensen. Dorothy attended and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1940. After graduation, she attended one year at Independence Community College. Dorothy married the love of her life, Jim Kensinger on October 4, 1947. Through the years, Dorothy was an avid gardener, enjoyed farming, cultivating her pecan grove and enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor and sharing them with friends. Dorothy's passion was baking, through her years she made several family members and friend's wedding cakes. Dorothy's grandchildren were her life, she thoroughly enjoyed baking treats and spoiling them every chance she got. In her later years Dorothy loved going to the Neodesha Senior Center to remanence and drink coffee with her friends.
Those left to cherish Dorothy's memory include, daughter, Kendra and husband Paul Harris, great-niece and friend, Cozy and husband Charlie Smith, grandchildren, James Harris, Jason Harris, Elizabeth Harris, Holly Byrd, Khaymen Holt, Faerun Holt, and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by, husband, Jim Kensinger, daughter, Heather Holt, brothers, Loren Jensen, Bill Jensen, and nephew, Tom Jensen. In lieu of flowers, the family asked memorial contributions to be made to the Neodesha Senior Center. Online condolences may be left at www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
