Dorothy Laforte

Dorothy E. LaForte Dorothy Elaine LaForte of Neodesha, KS, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at her home. She was 80. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Christ Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Rev. Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 67 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Oliver E. Barney and Bertha Hawthorne Osburn, she was born December 8, 1929, at Neodesha, KS. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Emerson Walter LaForte. He preceded her in death May 8, 1969. Mrs. LaForte was a homemaker and a member of the Eagles and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include five sons, Alan, Phillip and Dennis LaForte, all of Neodesha, Kevin LaForte of Independence, KS, and Chuck Bomboy of Neodesha four daughters, Denise Lour of Sycamore, KS, Teresa Scott and Mary Beth Arnold, both of Neodesha, and Anne Bomboy of New Mexico two brothers, Howard Osburn of Neodesha and Jim Osburn of Amarillo, TX 36 grandchildren 37 greatgrandchildren and two greatgreatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Becky Sexton one son, Scott LaForte four brothers, Kenneth, Marvin, Orlie and Harold Osburn two sisters, Lola Bomboy and Donna Jean Osburn and two grandchildren, Kenneth and Jason Riley. Memorial contributions may be made to Barneys Little League in care of the Neodesha Recreation Commission.
