Druecilla Joan McLean, 94 of Neodesha, Kansas passed away at Fredonia Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Graveside services will be held at Neodesha City Cemetery on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2:00pm.
Druecilla Joan Cook was born on September 16, 1929, in Osage City, Kansas. She moved to Baldwin City Kansas with her father Melvin and mother Jessie Cook. Druecilla went on to graduate from Baker University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. After graduation she was offered a one room school house in Ft Morgan, Colorado, but decided to stay in Kansas. She later married Jack McLean on April 14, 1956 and moved to Neodesha, Kansas. She taught at South School and then substitute taught at both Neodesha Northlawn and Heller Elementary schools. Her span of teaching stretched over several decades beginning in 1954, until she and Jack retired in 1976.
Druecilla was preceded in death by her husband Jack McLean and was survived by her sister Kathy and husband Albert Johnston of Baldwin City, Kansas, her son Christopher and wife Michelle of Cheyenne, Wyoming and her nephew Mike and wife Heidi Johnston of Baldwin City.
