Earl Gibson

Earl Sam Gibson, 71, of Neodesha, passed away early morning of January 31, 2011 at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Neodesha, Kansas. Cremation has taken places under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. Earl Sam Gibson was born on September 18, 1939 to P. Wayne and Donna Leah Arnold Gibson. He attended schools and graduated from Neodesha High School. After graduation, he went on to attend Pittsburg State University where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree he then went to Kansas State University where he gained his Doctorate in Biology. Sam taught at the Missouri Southern University in Joplin, Missouri for 28 years and where he was Dean of the Biology Department. Sam was very successful in his career. Survivors include his mother, Donna Leah Gibson of Cherryvale, Kansas two nephews, Tim Adee of Neodesha and Will Gibson of West Lafayette, IN three nieces, Amy Nitza of Fort Wayne, IN, Heidi Cripe of Columbia, SC and Holly Adee of Tulsa, OK and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Sam is preceded in death by his father, P. Wayne Gibson, a sister, Paula Adee and a brother, Dean Gibson.
