EARNEST LEROY REED Earnest Leroy Reed, 68, of Neodesha, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 03, 2007 at the Wilson County Hospital, Neodesha. Leroy was born January 22, 1939 in Appleton City, Missouri to Earnest L. and Yvonne Gladys Medearis Reed. He was raised and educated in Appleton City, graduating from Appleton City High School in 1957. He married Beverly Casperson on May 20, 1956 in Appleton City, Missouri and they were later
orced. Leroy married Judy A. High on February 25, 1981 in Clay Center, Kansas. They came to Neodesha in 1991. Leroy worked for the Millennium Rail, Inc. as a foreman retiring in May of 2004. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Appleton City, Missouri. Leroy is survived by his wife, Judy of Neodesha, Kansas; five sons, Randall L. Reed of Tescott, Kansas, James R. Reed of Lawrence, Kansas, Robert J. Reed and Richard L. Reed both of Manhattan, Kansas, and Russell D. Reed of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Joe Reed of Stover, MO; one sister, Donna Poland of Paola, KS; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bessie M. Reed. Cremation will take place under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Memorial services for Earnest Leroy Reed will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 09, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Neodesha with Reverend Kris Brinlee and Reverend Dave Cheshier officiating. Private family inurnment will follow the memorial services. Leroys register book will be available Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has suggested memorial contributions to either the Center for Basic Cancer Research, KSU, Manhattan, Kansas or the Friends of the Library, Neodesha, Kansas.
