Edrie L. Katzer Edrie Lenore Katzer of Neodesha, KS, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Vintage Park in Neodesha. She was 99. Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Father Stephen Thapwa will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be recited Monday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Friends may call at the funeral home to register on Sunday from 15 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m.5 p.m. The daughter of John C. and Fraanna Belle Gorby Kerner, she was born December 16, 1910, at Steamboat Springs, CO. She moved to Neodesha with her family at an early age, where she received her education. On June 14, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Joseph Katzer in Neodesha, KS. Together, they farmed east of Neodesha for many years. They, along with their son and daughterinlaw, Larry and Bobbi, were awarded the Wilson County Soil Conservation Award in 1994. He preceded her in death January 23, 2008. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. Mrs. Katzer did alterations at the local cleaners and was a proofreader for the Neodesha Register for a number of years. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Sue Friess of Neodesha, KS one son, John David Katzer and his wife, Joan of Springfield, TN one daughterinlaw, Bobbi Katzer of Neodesha one nephew, George Katzer of Neodesha nine grandchildren, Mike Downey, Julie Wittum, Bill Downey, Janel Downey, Carmela Brand, Stephanie Rorick, Trey Katzer, Kristin Durham and Andrew Katzer eleven greatgrandchildren one greatgreatgrandchild and one godchild, Dolores Nagle of Neodesha. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Lawrence Larry Katzer Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ignatius Catholic Church Building Fund or the Katzer Memorial Scholarship Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
