Glenn Edwin Worley Glenn Edwin Ed Worley, 76, of Neodesha, Kansas, died Thursday, November 11, 2004, at St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church under the direction of Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Interment will be in Harrison Cemetery west of Thayer, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The son of Glenn L. and Laura Rohwer Worley, he was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Earlton, KS. He attended Neodesha High School where he graduated in 1946. In August of 1946, Mr. Worley began his banking career as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Neodesha. While at the First National Bank, Mr. Worley rose to the position of President and CEO, serving both the First National Bank and, later, the First Neodesha Bank. He retired after 44 years of employment but continued to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the bank. On June 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Louise Elaine Erbe in the United Methodist Church in Thayer, Kansas. She survives at the home. Mr. Worley was an original member of the Neodesha Industrial Commission which was largely responsible for recruiting many of the industries now present in Neodesha. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge A.F A.M. 94, and the Order of the Eastern Star Eva Chapter. Mr. Worley served his community in many ways. He was a Boy Scout Leader and received the Silver Beaver award from the scouts. He was active in the Wilson County Soil Conservation and assisted in the development of area watershed districts. He was a lay speaker and Lay Leader for the United Methodist Church and served in many of the activities of the church. Mr. Worley was a former president of the Neodesha Chamber of Commerce and the Neodesha Lions Club and was a former recipient of the Man of the Year award from the chamber. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rob Worley of Conway, Arkansas, and Rick Worley of Prairie Village, KS; two daughters, Jane Worley of Kansas City, MO, and Ardis Cook of Holcomb, KS; two sisters, Winnie Fail of Chanute, KS, and Lavera Lyon of Neodesha, KS; and 13 grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jack; and two brothers, Leland and Maurice. Memorial contributions may be made to either the United Methodist Church or the Odyssey Health Care Hospice Services and may be left at the funeral home.
