Ernest Greer

Ernest Greer Ernest Greer of Topeka, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at VA Hospital in Topeka. He was 63. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Varner Cemetery south of Neodesha under the direction of Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. An honor guard from Neodesha and Fredonia VFW posts 5962 and 3018 will perform military rites. Friends may call on Monday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon. The son of Ralph of and Marjorie Gilliker Greer, he was born April 20, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up in Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1960. He joined the US Navy in 1961 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1965. He became disabled after his service in the Navy and had been under VA care since then. He had been a resident of a nursing home in Topeka for the past five years. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Greer, of Nashabo, OK; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; a step-brother, Bobby ONeal; and a half-sister, Sharon Bono.
