Ethel Emaline Watson Ethel Emaline Watson of Neodesha died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at her daughters home. She was 96. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, at the Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Logan officiating. Burial will be in the Ross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. with the family present from 2 until 4 p.m. The daughter of Charles H. and Hattie L. Rowe Redington, she was born April 8, 1912 at Lakin, KS. She moved to Neodesha with her family at the age of two and lived in the Neodesha and Altoona communities the remainder of her life. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1930. She was united in marriage to Kenneth H. Watson on Aug. 4, 1931 at Howard, KS. He preceded her in death in 1995. During the 1950s she began working at the Wilson County Hospital as a nursing assistant. She enjoyed caring for the newborns until her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Watson researched the family history and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an accomplished seamstress and a 4-H sewing leader. She also sewed for many persons in the local community. Her other passions were her cardinal collection, stamp collection, covered bridges, sewing and crafts. She was devoted to her family and loved helping grandchildren and great-grandchildren with school and craft projects. When at gatherings, she was known to comment in regard to the generations of family around her, Just think, Im responsible for al of this. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Kenneth, four brothers, Hal, Roy, Ernest, Russell and Bill, and two sisters, Mary and Sandy. Survivors include six daughters, Charlene Schneider of Mocksville, NC, Kay Ferguson of Tucson, AZ, Leah Frye of Wichita, KS, Linda Burris of Stilwell, KS, Judy Bennett and her husband, Lloyd, of Neodesha, KS and Debbie Page , and her husband, Bill, of Wichita, KS; a brother, Keith Redington of Guntersville, AL; two sisters, Betty Jean Powell of Las Vegas, NV and Shirley Michaels of Roanoke, TX; 27 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Genealogy Department of the W. A. Rankin Memorial Library or Harry Hynes Hospice of Coffeyville and may be left at the funeral home.
