REV. EUGENE RAYMOND CONNES Rev. Eugene Raymond Connes age 86, of Neodesha, Kansas died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, Kansas. Eugene was born March 25, 1916 in Barton County, Kansas to Edward Dean and Ada America Moon Connes. He grew up in Dodge City and attended the Dodge City school system. On March 24, 1940 Eugene married Alta Elizabeth Botts and she preceded him in death March 24, 1984. Eugene worked as a capenter and at the Ammunition Plant. Rev. Eugene ministered for prisons and jails for many years. On September 2, 1984 Eugene married Nora Javene and she survives. Survivors include his wife Nora of Coffeyville, Kansas; three daughters Judith Manly of Wamego, Kansas; Teri Logan and Cheri Scheeringa both of Neodesha, Kansas; one sister Rita Howser of Carbondale, Kansas, seven grandchildren Nancy Manly Treu, Allan Manly, Jeanne Logan, Herman Scheeringa III, Brandy Scheeringa, Sara Scheeringa and Dane Pace, six step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his first wife and five brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Christ Church with Dave Cheshier officiating. Burial will follow in the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
