Evelyn Stafford Evelyn Stafford of Neodesha, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Bear Creek Rehabilitation Center in Morrison, Colorado. She was 81. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Neodesha under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Officiating will be the Reverend Russell Anderson. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of Evelyns life at the Senior Center following the committal service. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Oscar and Lilly Biddle Jay, she was born December 17, 1924, in Neodesha, Kansas. She was raised in Neodesha and attended school there, spending most of her life in Neodesha. Mrs. Stafford was a homemaker and loved to enjoy life outdoors, especially fishing. Survivors include five children, Sherry Clifton of Longmont, CO, Patricia Cole of Wichita, KS, Rick Stafford of Eugene, OR, Helen Anderson of Lakewood, CO, and T.J. Stafford of Decatur, IL; two brothers, Kenney Jay of Como, IL, and Raymond Jay of Purlear, NC; two sisters, Wilma McGinnis of Mesa, AZ, and Julie Gouveia of Winter Springs, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Lois, Bernice, Louise. Memorial contributions may be given to the Addiction Treatment Center of Southeast Kansas in Girard, Kansas, and may be left at the funeral home.
