Everett E. Bennett, 92, formerly of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Life Care of Andover in Andover, Kansas.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Neodesha City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice of Wichita these may be left with the funeral home.

Everett Gene Bennett was born on July 4th, 1921 in Elk City, Kansas to Claude N. and Della Swearinger Bennett.
He graduated from The Lafontine High School. Gene joined the U.S. Army on August 10th, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1945 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the Pacific Theater and received a Bronze Service Star.

Gene was united in marriage to Betty McClaren on January 14, 1943 in Independence, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2006. Gene worked as a floor mechanic for Glenn Utt Home Furnishings for forty three years, retiring in 1989. He lived in Neodesha from 1946 until June of 2006 when he moved to Andover, Kansas. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Neodesha.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn and husband, Harry Elstun of Andover, Kansas grandchildren, Shelley Whittaker of Lindsborg, Kansas, Shawn Gorrell of Belgrade, Montana, Michelle York of Jenks, Oklahoma three step grandchildren eight greatgrandchildren and eight step greatgrandchildren brothers, Norman Bennett of Elk City, Kansas and Bob Bennett of Independence, Kansas. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
