Floyd O. Ivy Floyd Oliver Ivy of Neodesha, KS, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at the Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus. He was 68. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastor Jim Logan will officiate. The casket has been closed. Friends may call to register Tuesday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The son of Wiley and Jewell Kensinger Ivy, he was born December 10, 1939, in Neodesha, KS. He grew up in Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1958. He later attended Independence Community College. On December 31, 1965, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Fenner in Neodesha. They were later
orced. He owned and operated the Ivy Janitorial Service for several years before retiring. Floyd was active in a variety of sports-related activities in Neodesha. He served on the chain gang for Neodesha High School football games and was the coach of the Neodesha American Legion Baseball team for over 20 years. He also coached Little League and helped revive the Little Cardinal baseball program in Neodesha. He served as a staff sergeant in the National Guard, receiving his discharge in 1969. Survivors include one son, Jim Ivy and his wife Shawnda of Neodesha; one daughter, Angi Ivy and her husband Matt Petersen of Neodesha; four sisters, Pat Greer and her husband Jerry of Thayer, KS, Leatrice White and her husband Bob of Neodesha, Billie Osburn and her husband Doug of Newton, and Twyla Rossen, and her husband Ed of Grove, OK; and three grandchildren, Bret Ivy, Blake Ivy and Karsyn Ivy King, all of Neodesha. He is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Neodesha Alumni Association to be used for baseball scholarships in Floyds name.
