er, age 83, of Neodesha, Kansas died Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, Kansas. Harold was born January 1, 1921 in Bethany, Missouri to Robert and Nancy Hacker Van
er. Harold grew up in Millington, Tennessee. Harold entered the United States Navy on February 20, 1941 and served until his retirement on March 29, 1963. On April 9, 1948 Harold married Esther Nelson in Kansas City, Missouri. They lived in many different places as Harold served in the Military. They lived in Houston, Texas for 10 years as he worked as a SR. Electronics Engineer for NASA for 7 years. They moved to Neodesha, Kansas in 1984. He was a member of the VFW, U.S. Naval Reserve, and the Maple Grove Church of God The Bethel Church in Neodesha, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Esther of the Home, five children, Ronald Van
er of Millington, Tennessee, Rodney Van
er of San Diego, California, Stephen Van
er of Houston, Texas, Sheila Tickle of Kansas and Sheena Swartz of Neodesha, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and one brother. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the Maple Grove Bethel Church of God with Rev. Bill Campbell and Dave Cheshier officiating. Cremation will take place and burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004 at the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Maple Grove Church of God or the Christ Church and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
