HELEN MARY SHOWERS Helen Mary Showers, age 95 of Neodesha, Kansas died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, kansas. Helen was born October 8, 1906 in Elk City, Kansas to Jonathan and Lucy Clark McClintick. Helen grew up in Buffville, Kansas and graduated from the Community High School. On February 21, 1925 Helen married Blake Wilkes in Buffville, Kansas where they made their home until moving to Lee Summit and then to Neodesha, Kansas. Blake preceded her in death on February 5, 1963. On October 8, 1965 Helen married Rex Showers in Neodesha, Kansas and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1983. Helen was a homemaker and worked at Weston Plumbing Supply. Helen later purchased Weston and owned and operated Wilkes Plumbing Supply in Neodesha, Kansas. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors. Survivors include two sons Terry Wilkes of Neodesha, Kansas and Don Wilkes of Derby, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son Bob Wilkes; two brothers John and Wilbur; and one sister Bessie Stephens. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at the Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. DeWayne Prosser officiating. Burial will follow in the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002 and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Bible Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
