Hollis Jones

Hollis A. Jones Hollis Alton Jones of Neodesha, KS, died Thursday, December 04, 2008, at Regal Estates in Independence, KS. He was 87. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home to view and register on Sunday, Dec. 7, from 1-5 p.m. The son of Martin Luther and Flosy Bell Bagley Jones, he was born March 31, 1921, in Cunningham, TX. On August 5, 1939, he was united in marriage to Edith Stroupe in Clarksville, TX. She survives at the home. Mr. Jones was a construction worker who supervised the construction of concrete grain elevators in numerous locations around the country. He and his wife moved to Neodesha in the early 1960s to work construction for M-E-C. He last was employed by Farmland, constructing elevators. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Wayne Jones and his wife Gloria of Lebanon, OR; one daughter, Darlene High and her husband Danny of Independence, KS; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda; nine siblings; and one great-grandchild.
