December 17, 1943 — August 9, 2016

Howard Vincent (Vince) Meigs, age 72, of Altoona passed away on August 9, 2016, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Vince was born on December 17, 1943, in Parsons, KS, to Capp Vincent and Maybelle Hinch (Forshey)Meigs. He attended and graduated from Neodesha High School. After graduating, Vince started working various jobs, including construction, welding, masonry work, and he retired from Midwest Minerals as a heavy equipment operator. On February 6, 1972, he was united in marriage to Donna Kaye Mitchell. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters. Vince enjoyed being a father, he would invent and construct toys for his daughters to play on. He enjoyed working out in his garage, restoring garden tractors, and working on anything with wheels. Vince raced stock cars and motorcycles, competed in demolition derbies and tractor pulls, and loved restoring antique tractors and garden tractors. He will be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and easy to talk to man. Vince and Donna could always be seen holding hands; he loved his wife, daughters, and his grandchildren.
Left to honor his memory are his wife Donna, of the home; daughters Christina Savage, her husband Joe, and Julie Spieth, her husband Dustin; brother Claude Meigs; grandchildren: James and Jessica Spieth and Kyle and Emma Savage. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Meigs, and grandchild Cierra Harrod.
