Irene Myrtle Woolery went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2015. Irene was born to Earl and Zenella (Reeve)Dannels on June 16, 1925 in rural Altoona, Kansas.
Irene attended school at Buffville, Kansas and graduated from Altoona High School in 1943 as Co-Salutatorian.
Irene was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Thayer, Kansas. Irene was in Eastern Star and a former Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed her grandchildren, her flower gardens, doing genealogy and making quilts for her grandchildren.
Irene retired from KAAP in Parsons, Kansas in 1998. She was a resident at the Golden Living Center for the past 9 ½ years.
Irene was previously married to Hugh Gene Farmer and Charles Roger Holtzman.
Irene married Herschel G. Woolery on September 28, 1973. Preceding Irene in death was one son Charles David Holtzman, her 2 previous husbands, her parents, one sister Lula Moorhead, 2 brothers Walter Dannels and Wilbur Dannels.
Survivors include: one daughter Toni Ehrhardt of Round Rock, TX, 2 sons Dale Holtzman and wife Vicki of Altoona, KS and Gary Holtzman and wife Patricia of Topeka, KS, one daughter-in-law Karla Holtzman of Neodesha, KS, one step daughter Dixie Bush of Chanute, KS, one sister Henrietta Whitson of Chanute, 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Altoona City Library or to your favorite charity.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 29th, 6-8pm at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Chanute, KS. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel.
