JAMES DAYTON KENSINGER James Dayton Kensinger, age 80, of Neodesha, Kansas died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. James was born January 14, 1924 in Altoona, Kansas to Robert K. and Ona Fern Crocker Kensinger. James grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and attended the Neodesha High School. On October 4, 1947 James married Dorothy Lee Jensen in Neodesha, Kansas where they made their home. James worked for the Standard Oil Refinery until it closed in Neodesha, Kansas. He also worked as a farmer, father and painter. He was an original member of the Optimist Club, also a member of the Bridge Club and attended the United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Lee Kensinger of the home, two daughters Heather Holt and Kendra Harris of Neodesha, Kansas, one sister Mary Costler of Elko, Nevada, five grandchildren James Harris, Khaymen Holt, Jason Harris, Elizabeth Harris and Farerun Holt and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Neodesha United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kris Brinlee officiating. Burial will follow in the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2004 and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Neodesha Recreation Department Soccer League and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
