James L. Lour James Leroy Lour of Neodesha, KS, passed away Wednesday, August 05, 2009, at the Cherryvale Care Center. He was 76. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Ross Cemetery. Pastor Damon Hayward will officiate. Military honors will be afforded by the US Marine Corps Reserve. Friends may call at the funeral home to register Friday from 8 a.m-5 p.m. The son of Alonzo and Sylvia Babcock Lour, he was born January 25, 1933, Thayer, KS. Jim attended Neodesha schools and joined the US Marine Corps in 1950 at the age of 17. He retired from the Marine Corps after 20 years of service. While in the service, he served in Korea and Vietnam. On June 3, 1952, he was united in marriage to Anna Laverty in Neodesha. She survives at the home. Jim returned to Neodesha in 1969 where he was employed as a bookkeeper in the accounting department at M-E-C for 14 years. He later was the owner and operator of Jims Cabinet Shop in Neodesha. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, a charter member of the Marine Corps League of Independence, KS, and a life member of VFW Post 5962. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Christine Brundige and her husband Joe of Lawton, KS, Rhonda Lewis and her husband Jack of Coffeyville, Brenda Ellis of Coffeyville, Bonnie Baldwin and her husband David of Neodesha, Michelle Thurman and her husband David of Neodesha; and Cheryl Claibourn and her husband Oren of Joplin, MO; two sons, Howard Lour of Neodesha and Jim and his wife Denise Lour of Sycamore, KS; 34 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters and one son-in-law. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Diseases and Related Disorders Association or Harry Hynes Hospice.
