John Douglas John W. Douglas of Osage City, Kansas, formerly of Neodesha, died Friday morning, January 13, 2006, at the Osage Nursing and Rehab Center. He was 91. Graveside services will be held Monday January 16, 2006 at 11a.m. under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. The Reverend Dale Coble will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, 2006, from 1p.m. to 8 p.m. with family receiveing friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The son of John Wyatt and Emma Ruth Denney Douglas, he was born August 20, 1914, in Conway, Arkansas. On May 31, 1936, he was united in marriage to Florence Lorice Ickles in Neodesha. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1997. Mr. Douglas was a resident of Neodesha from 1936 until 1969. He was employed for 30 years at the Standard Oil Refinery in Neodesha before transferring to Texas City, Texas in 1969. He retired as a Chief Operator. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include two sons, John W. Douglas Jr. of Livingston, TX, and Larry A. Douglas of Osage City, KS; one sister, Dorothy D. Libertus of Coolidge, KS; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Twyla Greer; three brothers and four sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association and may be left at the funeral home.
