Joy G. Rogers died on September 19, 2010 at the Golden Living Center, in Neodesha. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Towanda City Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel 704 Indiana Neodesha, KS. Burial will be in the family plot in Towanda, KS. Joy will lie in state on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from noon to 4:00 p.m. for anyone wishing to stop by the Loran Fawcett Chapel to sign the register book. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Memorial Walk and can be left at the funeral home. Joy Rogers was born on October 30, 1921 near Oil Hill, Kansas to Thomas D. and Thelma L. Slankard Overton. She grew up in various oil lease communities in the Oil HillEl Dorado area. She attended El Dorado High School. On April 9, 1939 she was united in marriage to William A. Rogers. He died in March of 2008. They made their home first in El Dorado, then Independence, MO, and finally settled in Neodesha, KS. In 1948, she and her husband founded DK Manufacturing Co., which they operated until their retirement in 1984. She also worked for the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and Automotive Controls Corp. She is survived by three children, Dean Sharon Rogers of Taylors, SC, Linda Charles Ebert, Neodesha, KS, and Jan Rogers, Parker, CO. Six grandchildren: Sandra Baumli, Greer, SC Jana Wells, Honolulu, HI David Ebert, Independence, KS Karen Ebert, Louisville, KY Bryan Tegethoff, Lowell, AR and Amy Butler, Parker, CO. Seven greatgranchildren: Stephanie, Daniel, and Drake Baumli, Adam Wells, Greer, SC Hannah, Steven and Courtney Tegethoff, Lowell, AR Caylin Butler, Parker, CO and Kellen Ebert, Independence, KS and one greatgreat granddaughter, Sophia Alfaro, Greer, SC. One brother, Thomas D. Overton, Jr., Ponca City, OK, and one sister, Patsy J. Galyen, Independence, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Hollis Overton.
