Karen Joy Lee, 67, of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away on September 25, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Born on October 26, 1957, to Carolyn and Therman Gilbreath, Karen grew up with a deep love for family and community. On July 3, 1979, Karen married the love of her life, Kirby Wayne Lee. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children: Kami Lopeman, Katie Nalley, and Clifford Lee.
Karen spent more than 30 years serving as a registered nurse in Neodesha, where her compassionate care and dedication touched countless lives. Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended every recital, performance, and game she could, making sure her loved ones knew how deeply they were supported.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Vickie Colbert; and her grandson, Maddox Nalley. She is survived by her husband, Kirby; her sister, Joy Marie Gilbreath; her children, Kami, Katie, and Clifford and his wife Mindy; her grandchildren, Koby, Lexi, Kennedy, Kegen, Jasper, Harley, Chase, Kyler, Wesson, Caiden, and Alice; along with several nieces and nephews.
Karen will be remembered as a loving and selfless woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone she met. Her legacy of love, service, and devotion will continue to live on in her family and all who were blessed to know her.
A memorial service will be held October 11, 2025, 10:00am, at Christ Church in Neodesha, Kansas. Services are under the care of Loran Fawcett Chapel.
