Neodesha

Kelley Jona' Powell, 54, of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 9, 2026, surrounded by the love she gave so freely to others throughout her life.

Kelley was born on October 26, 1971, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Charles and Lillian (Cohee) Morgan. She grew up in Baton Rouge, where she attended school and developed the caring and spirited personality that would define her life. On March 15, 1990, Kelley married the love of her life, Lonnie Louie Powell, in Wichita, Kansas. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family, first in Wichita and later in Neodesha, where they made their home in 1992.

Kelley’s life was centered around the people and animals she loved most. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren. Her home was always full—of laughter, stories, and open arms for anyone in need. She truly never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome.

She had a deep and abiding love for raising all kinds of animals, a passion that brought her endless joy and reflected her nurturing spirit. Whether caring for pets or tending to animals of all kinds, Kelley gave them the same love and attention she gave her family.

A member of Christ Church in Neodesha, Kelley also served as President of the Women’s Eagle Auxiliary, where she formed lasting friendships and gave back to her community.

Kelley will be remembered for her strength, independence, honesty, and above all, her loving heart. She was outspoken in the best way—never afraid to stand up for what she believed in or for those she loved. Her presence was a light in the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 36 years, Lonnie Powell; her children: Bradley Powell of Pittsburg, Kansas; Christian (Shyanne) Powell of Altamont, Kansas; Daulton (Sabrina) Powell of Hugo, Oklahoma; and Star Powell of Neodesha, Kansas; her 21 cherished grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Kelley’s love lives on in all who knew her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Loran Fawcett Chapel.
