Born on February 19, 1933, in Neodesha, Kansas, Joan was a lifelong resident of her hometown, where she forged deep connections and left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Joan graduated from high school in the class of 1952 and went on to pursue a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wilson County Hospital, a position she dedicated herself to since 1980. A devoted member of the Bible Baptist Church since 1963, Joan's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Known for her warmth, generosity, and sweet nature, she was always ready with a comforting touch-often found giving back rubs to those in need of solace. Joan's love for animals and her playful spirit brought joy to those around her, while her small acts of kindness resonated deeply, making her a pillar of her community.
She is survived by her brothers, Jim McRoberts of Neodesha, KS, and Raymond McRoberts of Independence, KS, her children, Robert (Melody) Dickens of Neodesha, KS, Loren Dickens Jr (Cindy) of Neodesha, KS, Veronica Donald of Topeka, KS, Tami Payden of Neodesha, KS, Shawn (Giscelle) Dickens of Mission, KS, Shane (Tracy) Dickens of Shawnee, KS, and Pat Glasglow of Coffeyville, KS, her 20 grandchildren, and her 27 great grandchildren.
