Lewis Duane Pierce, 80, passed away December 16, 2022, at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO., surrounded by his family.

Lewis Duane Pierce was born February 20, 1942, in Neodesha, Kansas. The son of L.G. and Pauline C. (Vail) Pierce. Lewis attended school in Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1960. Lewis also attended Trade School in Wichita, Kansas. and worked for Page Milk in Independence, Kansas.

Lewis was united in Marriage to Janice Waldron on May 6, 1962, in Neodesha, Kansas, and enjoyed 54 wonderful years together. Janice preceded Lewis in death in 2016. Lewis purchased the Neodesha Recreation Pool Hall on January 2, 1969. Lewis worked for MEC Company for 39 years (1972-2011).

Lewis’ hobbies included flint napping, playing cards, going to the casino, riding in the semi with his son Kendall and spending time with his family.

Lewis is survived by three sons, Michael (Kelle) Pierce of Neodesha, KS, Mark (Shelly) Pierce of Altoona, KS, and Kendall Pierce and Fiancé (Tosh) of Altoona, KS. Grandsons Chance (Taryn) Pierce of Shawnee, KS, and Amy McDowell (Mike) of Cherryvale, KS. Chad (Ashley) Pierce of Altoona, KS; Tyler (Brianna) Pierce of Neodesha, KS; Brittany (Mike) Clines of Thayer, KS; Kristen (Kyle) Taylor of Sapulpa, OK., and Anna Pierce and Kendall Pierce Jr. of Altoona, KS. and fifteen great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews that were like his children.

Lewis is preceded in death by his loving wife Janice of 54 years, his parents L.G. and Pauline Pierce, sister Clara Willard, and brother-in-law Jimmy Willard, sister Kate Latta, great-granddaughter Lakin Clines, and nephew Chris Willard.

Celebration of life services will be Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Christ Church in Neodesha, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, KS.

Memorials can be made in Lewis’ memory to the Altoona Firefighters Auxiliary, Altoona, KS., and left at the Loran Fawcett Chapel. Online condolences can be left to the family by going to www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
