Lois Machesney

Lois Leona Machesney Lois Leona Surig Machesney of Mays Landing, NJ died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. She was 100. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Altoona Christian Church where friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Funeral Home of Neodesha. The daughter of Jesse and Loula Nay Allen Surig, she was born October 23, 1909, in Altoona, KS. She graduated from Altoona High School and then moved to Wichita where she attended beauty school. She was the owner and operator of Loiss Beauty Shop on North Broadway for 50 years. Survivors include a niece, Carla Gross of Massillon, OH; a nephew, Rollin Surig of Mays Landing, NJ; two great-nephews; three great-great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Roy Machesney; four sisters, Ora, Carrie, Arlene and Leola; and one brother, Carl.
