Louis C. Singhurst Louis Charles Singhurst of Neodesha, KS, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus. He was 86. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the First Church of God under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Leslie Griffith will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The son of William and Blanche Showalter Singhurst, he was born December 24, 1923, at St. Paul, KS. He graduated from Erie High School in Erie, KS, in 1941. On March 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Beeman in Girard, KS. She survives at the home. Mr. Singhurst served in the US Navy from 1943-45 on the USS Norton Sound. He was an employee of the W.J. Small Company rising to the position of District Manager in the electrical department. He was employed for a time by the KATY Railroad and for 10 years at Rays Truck and Auto. Louis also repaired electrical appliances. Mr. Singhurst was a member of the First Church of God where he served faithfully in a number of capacities including that of superintendent. He was also a life member of VFW Post 5962 in Neodesha and a member of the IOE. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Ron Singhurst of Independence, KS; one daughter, Pam Fields of Neodesha; one brother, Glen Singhurst of Wyoming, MI; three grandsons, Jason Singhurst and Shane and Justin Fields; and five great-grandchildren, Ava Singhurst, Peyton Fields, Benjamin Fields, Kaden Fields and Logan Fields. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne; and two sisters, Leone Amrine and Wilma Bowman. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God and may be left at the funeral home.
