Marcel E. Bly Marcel E. Marc Bly of Neodesha, Kansas, died Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Wilson County Hospital. He was 58. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2006, at the United Methodist Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverends Kris Brinlee and Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. The casket will be closed but friends may call at the funeral home to register beginning on Wednesday at 9 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The son of Ed Bly and Melvena Hummer Hazen, he was born April 28, 1948, in Perryton, Texas. He graduated from Independence High School in 1966 and received an associate degree from Independence Junior College in 1977. Marc served with the US Air Force as an Airman 1st Class from 1966-1972. On October 30, 1970, he was united in marriage to Cheryl E. Chambers in Neodesha. She survives at the home. Marc was the owner and operator of Blys Liquor in Neodesha and active in community affairs. He was a member of the Neodesha Chamber of Commerce, the Neodesha Art Association, the Friends of the Library, a life member of VFW Post 5962, the Eagles and was an officer in the Kansas Association of Beverage Retailers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Shelly Hulet and her husband Scott, of St. Joseph, MO; his mother, Melvena Hazen of Independence, KS; and three sisters, Lecieta Taylor of Dearing, KS, Sue Youngberg of Bartlesville, OK, and Teresa Bell of Independence, KS. He is preceded in death by his father Ed, and his step-father, Ernie Hazen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Neodesha Arts Association, the Wilson County Hospital Foundation, or the United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
