Michael E. Johnson, age 61, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at his sisters home in Dennis, Kansas after a battle with cancer.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday with the Pastor Dave Cheshier of the Christ Church officiating at the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Chapel.
Michael was born November 12, 1951 in Neodesha, Kansas to Harold E. and Hazel Quigley Johnson. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1969. In August of 1971 Michael entered the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1975.
After his discharge he moved to Louisiana where he was a barge operator. He later moved back to Neodesha and lived with his mother and brother where he worked for several factories. When his health failed he was working for Grandview Products Cherryvale Division.
Survivors include six sisters Brenda Anderson of Dennis, Kansas, Pat Mundell of Hannibal, Missouri, Linda Hare of Neodesha, Kansas, Debbie Miller of LaSalle Illinois, Juanita Griffen of Van Buren, Arkansas and Tina Elsworth of Parsons, Kansas, three brothers Dean Johnson of Haleyville, Alabama, Ray Johnson Dennis, Kansas and Larry Johnson of Independence, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
