Naida M. Poland Naida Mickie Maxine Poland of Neodesha, KS, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Wilson Medical Center-Reece Campus after suffering a stroke. She was 86. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. A private family memorial service has taken place. Inurnment will be in the Neodesha Cemetery at a later date. Mickie was born December 29, 1922, to Roy and Gertrude Bair Willard in Spickard, MO. She lived in Neodesha many years of her life, later moving to Kansas City, MO. While there, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Poland. She was em-ployed by Kresges Department Store for many years before retiring in 1984. Her husband passed away a few years after her retirement so she moved back to Neodesha to be close to friends and family. She loved her poodle, Buddy, who was great company to her. She enjoyed the outdoors and always liked fishing with her dad and spending time outdoors attending her flowers. Mickie attended the First Christian Church, later becoming a member. In 1989, she had a stroke and was moved into the Golden Living Center where she lived many years. She is survived by three sisters, LaVone Altendorf of Joplin, MO, LaVerne Cooley and her husband Bob of Independence, KS, and Karen Bowen and her husband Jim of Wichita, KS; two nieces, Janey Long and her husband Tom of Arizona and Dot Pace of Neodesha; and many other nieces and nephews.
