RALPH GILDART Ralph Gildart, 86, of rural Thayer, Kansas, died Friday morning at his home. At his request, cremation has taken place under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Friends and neighbors are invited to the Gildart Family Farm on Saturday, December 5, 2009, from 2-6 p.m. to celebrate Ralph39;s life. A committal will be held at 2:30 p.m. The family has suggested memorial remembrances to American Cancer Society and remembrances will be received at the funeral home Ralph Gildart was born September 28, 1923 at the family farm near Thayer, Kansas, the son of Charles Gildart and Sibyl Jones Gildart. He attended Thayer schools, graduating from Thayer High School in 1940. He served in the United States Army from December 9, 1943 until his discharge on June 1, 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. He served in the Aleutian Islands and ATTU as a cook. After his military service he returned to the family farm where he lived the rest of his life. He was member of the Wilson County Farm Bureau. He was never married. Survivors include: two brothers, Dale Gildart and Neil Gildart, both Thayer, Kansas; six sisters, Doris Engstrom of Palmdale, California, Erma Gough of Erie, Kansas, Lena Pipin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Frances Wedan of Colorado, Nelda Beaman of Copan, Oklahoma and Norma Stell of Bethany, Oklahoma; and 26 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Reve Wallace and two brothers, Paul Gildart and Roy Gildart.
