Raymond L. Bruton Raymond Lee Bruton of Fredonia, KS, formerly of Neodesha, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at the Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha. He was 66. Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Interment will be near Rogersville, MO. Friends may call to register and view on Tuesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The son of Hershel S. and Luella Marie Peck Bruton, he was born September 1, 1941, in Webster County, MO. He graduated from high school in Wyoming and later attended Brigham Young University. Mr. Bruton served in both the US Army and US Navy in Vietnam where he was a squad leader. On June 16, 1979, he was united in marriage to Janet Shipman in Howard, KS. She survives at the home. Before moving to Fredonia in 1994, he and his wife lived in Wyoming, Frontenac and Neodesha. He was a construction worker who helped construct the HUD housing units in Howard, KS. He also enjoyed the open roads as a biker. He was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Wells of Chanute, KS, Ginger Heaston of Wichita, KS, Terri McAllister of Minneola, KS, and Tonya Trasper of Thermopolis, WY; a brother, Mike Bruton of Republic, MO; a sister, Sue Phillips of Wyoming; two step-brothers, Tom Phillips of Casper, WY, and Art Phillips of California; a step-sister, Jean Phillips of Oklahoma City, OK, and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association and may be left at the funeral home.
